Looking for a great way to relax over the holidays or want to show off your ‘backyard’ to visiting friends and family, check out the Central Coast Makers Trail.
The ‘Maker’s Trail’ project has been a major initiative led by CCIC this year, funded by the Commonwealth and NSW Governments as part of disaster recovery arrangements.
Here on the Coast, we have an incredibly diverse & vibrant local food and drink production sector which is widely regarded as a key strength of the region. However our local food and drink producers typically fly under the radar. Food and drink aren’t a key reason people visit the Coast. Even most locals don’t realise what’s available right here on our doorstep.
The Makers Trail project sets out to change this, firstly by investing is creating awareness of local food and drink businesses and secondly by making it easy for visitors to add a food or drink experience at one our makers, when they visit the Coast.
We add value for visitors by curating bookable experiences and leveraging local knowledge to provide suggested itineraries with something for everyone, from family-friendly experiences to bespoke couple and group experiences. We’ve designed the Makers Trail to enable consumers to get behind the scenes, hear our Maker’s stories and feel more connected to where their food comes from.
We’re also aiming to tap into desire from Central Coast locals to explore and show off their ‘backyard’ and support local businesses, as we know that more than 40% of people come to Coast to visit friends or family and locals are an important source of inspirations and knowledge for visitors.
Through the Makers Trail, we’re setting out to help local business develop and grow their food tourism income streams as well as reach new markets and more than that we want to attract more visitors to the Coast, keep them here longer and encourage them to spend more whilst they’re here.
SO, whether you’ve got a full day or just a couple of hours, we hope over these coming holidays you’ll visit one or more of our incredible Makers, try their products, hear their stories and share your experience with Friends, Family and visitors. We welcome any suggestions for local food & drink businesses in your networks you think should be part of the Makers Trail.
